The Chaos-Friendly Way to Brief a Designer
2/09/25, 11:00 pm
Need help shaping an idea into a design brief? I’ve got you. Let’s chat before you spiral into another Canva rabbit hole.
We’ve all been there...
Clients are excited to get something designed, but suddenly they’re stuck trying to explain what’s in their head. Cue panic. Cue confusion. Cue vague Pinterest boards.
What a Brief Actually Is (and Isn’t)
It’s not a 20-page document.
It is a way to help your designer read your mind a little faster.
You don’t need the perfect words — you just need the right info.
What to Include in a Good Brief
What you need (logo, flyer, rebrand, etc.)
Why you need it (the goal, not just the output)
Your vibe (keywords, references, mood)
What to avoid (your ex’s favourite colour, Comic Sans)
Timeline and budget (rough is fine)
My Chaos-Friendly Briefing Method
Brief Template in the making, watch this space! I'm here to help.
Briefing doesn’t have to be boring. It’s the start of the creative magic. And with the right guide (hello, me), it becomes a conversation, not a chore.
